Crowdfunding on Shopify means selling a product before you make it, and only making it if enough people commit. With Fundcap you run that campaign on your own store instead of on a platform like Kickstarter, so you keep your buyers, their emails, and the percentage a platform would take. Here is the whole flow.
1. Pick the product
In your Shopify admin, open Fundcap and click New campaign, then choose the product you want to fund. It can be an existing product or a new one you created just for the drop. One campaign covers one product.
2. Set the goal and the deadline
Choose a goal type. Units means the campaign is funded when a number of items are backed (for example 200 units). Revenue means it is funded when orders reach an amount (for example $10,000). Then set the deadline. Buyers see it as a live countdown in their own time zone.
3. Optional: set a max cap
If you can only make so many, set a max cap. Selling stops automatically the moment it is reached. This is the funded AND capped idea: goes to production at your goal, closes at your cap, and you never take an order you cannot fulfill.
4. Launch
Launching flips the product so it can keep selling while the campaign runs, and turns on the storefront widget: a progress bar, percent funded, backer count, countdown, and a clear line telling buyers they are charged now and refunded automatically if the goal is missed.
5. Resolve
If you hit the goal, there is nothing to do. The orders are already real, so you go to production. If you miss it, mark the campaign failed and run the one-click bulk refund. Every backer is refunded through Shopify and gets an automatic confirmation email.
Fundcap is $19/month flat with a 14-day free trial. Build campaigns for free; taking one live starts your plan. No per-order fees and no percentage of your raise.
