Fundcap vs Fundlify: Shopify Crowdfunding Apps Compared

Facts checked July 2026. Both apps change; if something here is out of date, tell us and we will fix it.

We build Fundcap, so read this page knowing that. It is still written to be useful even if you end up picking Fundlify. Both apps let you run crowdfunding on your own Shopify store instead of sending your audience to Kickstarter, and they take very different approaches to pricing and scope.

The honest starting point: Fundlify is the established option. It has been on the Shopify App Store since September 2018, holds a 5.0 star rating (from 8 reviews), meets Built for Shopify standards, and covers far more ground: pre-sales, back orders, coming soon pages, limited drops, reward tiers with early-bird pricing, and deposit-based charging. Fundcap is new in 2026, has zero reviews, is built by one person, and does exactly one thing: all-or-nothing campaigns where buyers are charged now and automatically refunded if the goal is missed.

The biggest practical difference is money. Fundlify charges a monthly fee plus a 2 to 5% platform fee on paid pre-orders on every tier, including the $259 Scale plan. Fundcap is $19 a month flat, with no percentage of your raise and no per-order fees. Below is the exact math at $10,000 and $50,000 raised, plus every category where each app wins.

Which one fits your store?

Choose Fundlify if

  • You need more than crowdfunding. Fundlify covers pre-sales, back orders, coming soon pages, and limited drops in one app; Fundcap does none of those.
  • You want reward tiers, bundles, early-bird pricing, or deposit-based charge-later today. Fundcap does not have these yet, they are roadmap items.
  • You want a track record before installing anything. Fundlify has been live since September 2018, holds a 5.0 rating, and meets Built for Shopify standards.
  • You want pre-launch validation or forecasting. Fundlify's no-payment email reservations (Launch Autopilot) and its demand forecasting on Growth and Scale plans have no Fundcap equivalent.

Choose Fundcap if

  • You want flat, predictable pricing. $19 a month with no percentage of the raise. On a $50,000 raise, Fundlify's cheapest configuration costs $1,259; Fundcap costs $19.
  • You want true all-or-nothing mechanics with real orders. Buyers are charged now and automatically refunded if the goal is missed, with one-click bulk refunds through Shopify.
  • You want funded AND capped. Unit or revenue goals with an optional max cap, so a viral campaign cannot oversell your production capacity.
  • You want to talk to the builder. Support is answered by the founder in under 24 hours, not routed through a tier system.

Common questions

Is Fundcap always cheaper than Fundlify?

No. If you raise under about $380 in a month, Fundlify's Free tier ($0/month plus a 5% fee) works out cheaper than Fundcap's $19. The math flips quickly above that: at $10,000 raised, Fundlify's cheapest option is $359 on the Growth plan versus $19 on Fundcap, and at $50,000 it is $1,259 on Scale versus $19. Every Fundlify tier keeps a percentage fee, so the gap grows with the raise.

What does Fundlify have that Fundcap does not?

Quite a lot, honestly. Multiple order types (pre-sales, back orders, coming soon, limited drops), reward tiers with bundles and early-bird pricing, deposits and charge-later, pre-launch email validation, demand forecasting on higher plans, and a track record going back to 2018. Fundcap does one thing, all-or-nothing campaigns with one product each, and it is new. Reward tiers and deposits are on Fundcap's roadmap.

What happens to my customers' money if a Fundcap campaign misses its goal?

Buyers are charged at checkout, so they place real Shopify orders rather than pledges. If the campaign misses its goal, you refund every backer through Shopify with one click, and you can export a backer CSV at any time. The promise buyers see on your store: charged now, automatically refunded if the goal is missed.

If you need a broad pre-order toolkit with reward tiers, deposits, and a history going back to 2018, Fundlify is the safer pick, and its 5.0 rating, while built on only 8 reviews, is real. Fundcap's case is narrower and simpler: one job done carefully. All-or-nothing campaigns at a flat $19 a month with no cut of your raise, a widget designed to disappear into your theme, goals that can be funded AND capped, buyers charged now and automatically refunded if the goal is missed, and support answered by the founder in under 24 hours. If that one job is the job you need done, the fee math alone makes the 14-day trial worth running. If you need more than that job, choose Fundlify, and we mean that.
